MMO GRID

fix

MU Online closes by itself

When MU closes mid-game, the most useful clue is when it happens: entering a map, opening a window, after a long session or when switching servers. Each moment points to a different kind of cause.

When it closes and what it usually means

  • When entering a specific map: that map's file is corrupted or missing in the client. Reinstalling or letting the launcher verify files usually fixes it.
  • After a long session: 32-bit clients have a memory limit. Lots of effects, many players on screen or browser tabs left open help reach it. Restarting the game now and then and lowering effects helps.
  • When opening a game window: usually a bug in that server's client. Note which window and tell support.
  • Right after entering with a character: an item or effect the client cannot draw. Try another character to confirm.

What you can do now

  1. Update your graphics driver from the vendor's site.
  2. Install the Visual C++ Redistributable (x86 and x64) and the DirectX End-User Runtime.
  3. Close overlays (Discord, screen recorder, FPS counter).
  4. Test in window mode.
  5. Make sure your antivirus is not blocking the game's protection during play.

How to help support fix it

Send support: the map and moment it closed, any error message, your Windows version and graphics card. Some clients write crash files (such as .dmp files or logs) in the game folder; they help the developer find the cause.

FAQ

Why does MU close after hours of play?

32-bit clients can hit their memory limit over time. Restarting the game periodically and lowering effects usually prevents it.

MU closes when I enter a map: what should I do?

Let the launcher verify files or reinstall the client. If it happens to every player, it is a client problem the server team needs to fix.
